About Us

The nonprofit organization The Work of Our Hands, Inc. was founded by Frank Allan upon his retirement as the eighth Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta in 2000. A devoted woodturner and believer in the spiritual and therapeutic benefits of creating art, Bishop Allan sought to build an organization to support local, art-oriented missions that serve underprivileged and mentally disabled people in the inner-city neighborhoods of Atlanta.

The Work of Our Hands, Inc. promotes and supports arts and crafts programs that serve persons marginalized by socioeconomic, mental health and intellectual challenges.
